In this episode of The Krown Affair, we interview Captain Godfrey Weekes of the U.S. Navy. Capt Weekes started as an enlisted sonar tech and over his career of 34 years rose to the ranks of leadership to become an O-6 Naval Captain. Capt Weekes is a minority and as such is part of a small group of African-American senior officers of this rank.
He hails from the St Croix US Virgin Islands, obtained his Bachelors of Science from his alma mater Savannah State University (SSU) became a Brother of Alpha Phi Alpha initiated through the chapter of Delta Eta at SSU, obtained his Masters of Science in Electrical Engineering, is a husband and father of 5.
Capt Weekes joins The Krown Affair to discuss his beginnings, his career path and provides helpful information to aspiring military members, junior officers, leadership on how to navigate their careers as well as tidbits on balancing work-life with family and duty to country.
